NYC Berry Rich Lipstick ~ Swatch and Review

Its one of those little beauties that are often ignored since bigger (costlier) names have bigger market hold in the cosmetic industry.
I am new to NYC ~ New York Cosmetics and given the price of this lipstick + its quality I am impressed. Sadly it's not available in India at the moment.
This came to me through my mum , she knows what suits me  but the thing is that I wear neutral shades more, so it will be used either to match an outfit or as a lip tint at times.

Job :

• It's a lipstick duhh!!
• I will use it as a lip tint though.

Texture :

• Creamy but not too much.
• A bit sheer.
• Glides on smoothly

Shade :

• Beautiful Berry color.
• Nothing more, nothing less than a true berry shade.
• No shimmer.
• Frost free finish.
• Didn't make my teeth look yellow.

Will suit :

• All skin tones.
• Those with pigmented lips can easily use it's one swipe as a natural looking lip tint.

Packaging :

• It looses its charm in its packaging. But you can't expect more from a $1.99 product can you?
• The cap is transparent plastic, can break soon if mishandled.
• The bullet doesn't swirl down completely inside the bottom casing, half of it remains out from the black casing which always always sticks on the inside of the transparent cap while closing.
• Lipstick Bullet looks fragile.

Plus points :

• Great shade, will suit all skin tones.
• Good quality even at such low price.
• Sheer yet build-able.
• Comes in 20 colors.
• Good for experimenting with different shades as it won't pinch your pocket much.

Minus points :

• Packaging
• That's it. :)
• Not available in India.

All in all it's a beautiful berry mauve shade and I know so many of you would love it. It will definitely suits all skin tones. Those with pigmented lips can use it easily, saying this with personal experience :)

A close dupe of this shade is ~ ~ Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick number 152 . For people in India, if you don't get your hands on this shade by NYC then you can buy the lakme one.

Ok, now I was honestly on a look for this baby pink shade the singer wears in this music video. I did a lil hunt for this in Bourjois but well I couldn't find it,, 

what I did found is this baby below :)

I have a close dupe of it by Faces Canada,, you can see that over here .

This is my first lipstick from Bourjois and I am super impressed with the quality.

It doesn't stick,,stays put on my lips for a good 4-5 hours,,moisturizes my lips.

I still wear a lipbalm underneath because I am having dry lips these days.

The shade is beautiful, the color of a pink rose ,, yes the beautiful pink rose :)

The packaging is uber cool ,, the snap pull button is awesome,, thus extremely travel friendly.

The bullet looks sturdy,,but I still keep it refrigerated because of the awesome heat ;)

Pinks, plums, corals and reds suit my skin shade,,and this one suits me so very well. 

Only thing I feel is that it is kinda sheer, so for those who have pigmented lips you would have to dab a little foundation/primer/any base before applying it to let the true color show up.

Best Buy January ~ Revlon Photo Ready Foundation ~ and a free gift :)

I shopped quite allot in January and at the end of it I felt like crap !! I bought things that I am going to use seldom and the worst part of it being that they were pricey. Now I am on hold on shopping for makeup and m concentrating more on accessories. (yes !! I need them.. I swear !! )

But then,  all I have been doing since a good 6-8 months was finding a good foundation for parties and likes.
Since I am going to attend a very special party in a couple of days all I wanted was a good foundation :) . I wanted to see my skin looking good but yes not too much of coverage,, in a full coverage foundation I don't find me looking like me ;) ,, so this is what I bought.. Revlon Photo ready foundation .

Along with it I bought a colorburst lipstick too,, its price has increased : \

So I was at the counter and the lady said ma'am the price of the lipstick has increased and I was like acha !! , but since it is not much of a price rise so I bought it, it's a different story how I have managed  to pick similar shade again.(I now have 3 similar looking shades and I am not much happy with it). :p

I don't knw what sort of offer it came with, but I got it with these two products I got.

It has one huge zipped compartment, a Velcro flap compartment and a open pocket on the back side.
I like the pattern it has,,and yes purple is my favorite color since I was like 2 or something.. :D
quality is nice and the best part is that its too roomy !! good for girls like us ;)

I will review the foundation in some time, maybe 2-3 weeks or so,,so far m loving it :) I don't look too much dolled up wearing this and also I can blend it with my fingers easily.

Lakme Absolute Plump and Shine 3D Gloss ~ Berry Shine

Lakme Absolute Range's Plump and Shine Lipgloss are very pretty glosses that somehow stand by what they claim .. Yes I say so!!
For me Lipgloss is something that shifts your look from a casual/formal straight to partying one,, Glossy lips are beautiful and pretty but are not for formal looks. I had this conception until I used this range.

These glosses are pretty, shiny but yet nicely pigmented and hence does not make you look tooo dolled up,
I got only this shade ~ Berry Shine from this range as it was the kind of shade I was looking for a really long time. There is another shade ~ candy shine which is so pretty but somehow I don't like that shade on me,,

I did not find them sticky at all and these have some moisturizing properties too. No dry lips after it withers off and also it leaves a nice tinge of the shade on the lips .

The plumping factor ~ If you have thin lips and want fuller ones that grab these ryt now, I don't joke when I say that your lips are going to plump nicely,,well quite nicely!!
Mine are not thin at all so maybe I will not pick up any other shade from this range but yes,,its a cheap equivalent to limp plumping shots present in the cosmetic clinics these days.

The shade is Delicious!!! Its like peach+pink+minute shimmer = perfect ingredient for a pretty gloss.
I find them decently pigmented and this works with so many lipstick shades~ here I have paired it with Vintage from Oriflame my fav go to lipstick and it looks beautiful !!

The packaging is fine, looks nice but the wand is useless,, you have to dip the wand so many times inside the tube to get some color on the sponge applicator.

It lasts for around 4 hours on my lips, I never retouch my lipstick unless I was my face.

It shines nicely because it has minute shimmer in it , its bearable :) my mum approved ;)

~ Things I like

1. The shade and its pigmentation. whats inside looks like the same on your lips.
2. Sticking to its claims
3. Plumps up the lips nicely
4. Decent packaging
5. stays on for good 4 hours
6. Travel Friendly

~ Things I didn't like

1. The wand applicator ~ useless . Dip it inside , scratch the wand on the sides of the tube and you may get some color on the sponge .. :\
2. The fragrance ~ I like cosmetics to be fragrance free ~ so not much of a con.

Price : INR 375

Recommendation : yes please :) even if you have full lips,, these are worth trying.

Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipsticks are my current favorite range of lipstick these days, they are affordable, good quality and the best part that it leaves a tint after the lipstick weathers down...I guess that is the best part about that in my opinion. (read further as to why)

ok,,before describing them I want to disclose something, I am honestly very bad at picking shades, every single time I go for makeup shopping I come back with  2 very similar shades and then curse myself like,,,,,
(ya you can make fun of me after reading this with your heart's desire,,, )

"don't act like a fool at the shop,,the shop is not going to vanish if you buy only one shade at a time, take your time and see the shades nicely,,blah blah blahhh.. but I never seem to do so,,I have to,,,like have to buy two shades at a time and despite not being color blind or anything my 22 year old self  can't distinguish between two shades...

(there,,,I can sense you laughing) :(
nyways..

you get the point na,,,, Over The Top and Brick-O-La are like cousins if not sisters :p :p

while Over The Top is a rich brown+red shade(if that makes any sense to you)
Brick-o-La is a rich red shade with a tinge of coral (color of a brick),,,not a bright red but a slightly muted one. (no blue undertones to it)

These are matte lipsticks but not super matte,, even if you don't apply a lip balm beneath, it still will keep your lips soft and supple.

The color intensity is extremely good, one swipe gives you a nice shade and two swipes gives an opaque finish. :)

The staying power is also very good as it stay put for 4 hours. Even after removing it with a makeup remover I still can find a nice tint of the shade on my lips.
I kind of sometimes dab it on my lips , wipe of a bit with a tissue and enjoy the lip tint ( crazy ?)

These lipsticks have the shade shown on the bottom of the tube,,hence making it slightly easier to search for it.

Completely transferable .

These two shades are 90% similar,,if someone has nicely pigmented lips then they should not buy both of these shades as it will look more or less the same.

The slight difference is with the brown tinge in the Over The Top one as you can see in the swatch.

The packaging is fine,,not so good, not so bad..

A very affordable and super quality lipsticks I must admit. The quality is as good as some top notch brands so I guess its a must for every girl to try it out at least once.

Ok, I had never tried Oriflame lipsticks and wanted to try once as everyone these days are raving about it. 

The scene is that I always have some shades in the back of my mind that I want to buy but as soon as I enter a shop I forget it :| and then starts the issue of what to buy n what to skip,,fact is that I always buy two very similar shade every time and then repent later on..

So a shop that I know stocks Oriflame products and I wanted to check their lipsticks there.

As usual I was dependant on the S.A. to show me different shades and I was not clear in my head for any shade.

So, that person showed me this shade  Trendy Berry and suggested me that I should go for this one only and look no further :p I did as what she said :P I repent it today :P I will repent it for long :p

The shade trendy berry is a deep berry shade that shows up only when you swipe it 3-4 times, else it comes as a very sheer glittery lipstick only.

My take on this lipstick :

The packaging : Its silver n royal blue with some detailing on the case. But nowhere on the case can you see the shade , you have to read the bottom to see the shade if you have allot of shades from this range else if you are like me and won't be getting any more shade from this range then you know what shade you are picking up ;)

I dislike the packaging

The quantity :

only 1.6 gm 

The quality :

Ok, no I don't like the quality, you have to swipe hard this shade atleast 4 times for the color to show up.

The swatch m showing on my arm is by applying it six times.

I don't even like the color :|

The lipstick stays on your lips for only 2-3 hours (without having any meal) which is bad,,really bad

I don't find it moisturising my lips any time.

Recommendation : buy if you like oodles of glitter in your lipstick,, skip it completely if you don't and can't stand strange fruity fragrance. My personal opinion though,,if you like it then its good na :) :)

How much I love this lipstick is only known by my maa ,, whether I have to go n meet someone casually or to attend a wedding my hand always reach out for this little charming baby ,, all despite of my maa tellin me to use other shades. I LOVE my peach like anything, basically I like everything peach.
This one was the first shade I had picked up from this range and it has been my love all the way since..

My take with this shade ~


Peach is a true peach shade having a creamy texture and no shimmer in it at all.
It is definitely a build-able product and I personally swipe it 2-3 times if I am having a smoked eye makeup , else I just swipe it once and off I leave for my work.

Colorburst range from Revlon is an awesome range having a wide number of shades all with creamy texture.
Its creamy and not super creamy that it will vanish off after having a small snack
The quality is damn good for the price you have to pay for it,,its awesome,,

Just make sure that you keep them refrigerated,, this baby refuses to come out of the refrigerator, gets all soft creamy the day I take it out from the fridge and stack it in my drawer..


The packaging of this range is what caught my fancy at first,,the diamond pattern on it looks superb and very chic,, also its easier to look out for a particular shade because the cap has the shade of the lipstick on its top. It is travel friendly but not very much,,I have seen it with its cap removed in my handbag a couple of times, so you should try n keep it in a lipstick case,,
color payoff is superb  too,,easily lasts on my lips for around 4 hours..

I can not pick out even a single negative thing from this particular shade/range.

Its very creamy and not super matte as you can see in the pics..
